Total UK Limited, affiliate of TotalEnergies, has joined forces with Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust to support the planting of three hundred trees in 2021 across the Yorkshire Dales.

The long-term partnership, which is expected to run for the next three years and beyond, will see Total UK Limited planting lots more native broad leaf trees over the coming years.

Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust works with partners such as Total UK Limited to plant trees that will provide habitats for endangered wildlife, prevent flooding, and help make them more resilient to climate change.
The launch of the partnership coincides with the recent rebrand of Total to TotalEnergies and its mission to become a broad energy company committed to producing and providing energies that are more affordable, clean, reliable and accessible to as many people as possible.

Total UK Limited is committed to corporate social responsibility and supporting the local communities and environments it works in. The initiative with Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust is part of Total UK’s Action! Foundation employee volunteering programme through which employees are given the time and resources to make a difference in society by offering their skills, mentoring capabilities, or a helping hand.

The tree planting activity took place at Ormsgill woodland, a natural wetland habitat in the Dales that is home to a diverse range of native plants and wildlife. As part of the partnership, Total UK Limited employees will also be able to get hands-on with nature and get involved with a range of projects from dry stone walling to woodland maintenance and springtime lambing.

John Ryder, General Manager of Total UK’s Lubricants Division, said: “At Total UK Limited, we’re committed to corporate social responsibility, and that means helping support the local communities and environments we work in. This initiative is in line with the Company's commitments in terms of sustainable development and its ambition to help to protect the environment and biodiversity. We deploy the necessary resources to preserve biodiversity everywhere we operate and focus on ensuring the sustainability of ecosystems and the services they provide to local communities. Our approach to biodiversity is designed to provide a targeted response for each specific situation.

“We’re proud to partner with Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust and be able to help plant more trees in the Yorkshire Dales National Park to protect the natural treasure for future generations to enjoy.”

Leah Galloway, Development Officer for Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust, said: “Our partnership with Total UK Limited is one we are proud of, as we help create beautiful woodlands that everyone can enjoy for years to come.”
Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust is committed to protecting the rich natural heritage of Yorkshire. The Trust has already planted over 1.5 million trees, and every new wood protected or even created counts.
