One of Yorkshire’s leading insolvency lawyers has joined LCF Law’s specialist insolvency division as a partner.

Wayne Parker is a key appointment for the Yorkshire based firm and will work alongside leading insolvency specialist and LCF Law partner, Jo Barnes. He is a member of R3, the UK trade association for insolvency and restructuring professionals.

Wayne specialises in company turnarounds, corporate restructures and administrations, advising financial institutions, administrators, liquidators and receivers in relation to companies and individuals facing financial difficulties. He joins from Gordons and prior to that worked at Pinsent Masons.

The legal industry’s leading source of market intelligence, Chambers and Partners, currently ranks Wayne as one of the top five insolvency lawyers in Yorkshire describing him as a ‘longstanding stalwart of the Yorkshire market’ and a ‘very experienced and sensible lawyer.’

Wayne said: “This career move is an opportunity to join a well-established firm that is investing in its team and expanding its insolvency department at a time that is both unprecedented and unique for the industry.

“The pandemic has caused major problems for lots of businesses, but unlike in other economic downturns, government support and temporary restrictions on winding up proceedings, are enabling businesses to continue trading. It won’t be until the support is eased that potential issues come to light for many businesses.

“This makes it a really interesting time to work in this field, as we look to assist those businesses that want to be proactive and address potential problems now, in preparation for support packages coming to an end.”

Managing partner, Simon Stell, said: “Demand for our insolvency services is increasing on the back of both high-profile victories in landmark legal cases, and as businesses navigate the challenges that the pandemic has caused them. Wayne is very well-known with a strong track record across the insolvency industry, and he will immediately add value and further enhance the level of service provided to our clients.”
