Gravitate Accounting, which specialises in Xero cloud software, digital accounting and outsourced FD services, has made several new hires and welcomed 27 new clients since January.

The strong start to 2023 has resulted in a 14.5% rise in recurring revenues for January-March when compared to the same period last year. Digital Accountant Megan Ducey and Trainee Digital Accountant Jack Laister have joined the team, along with Morgan Bland, who has been hired as Gravitate Accounting’s first apprentice.

In February, co-founder Sam Newton was named Accountant of the Year at the Yorkshire Accountancy Awards in recognition for his performance over the last year and the work he does to go above and beyond for clients and the wider accountancy profession. Gravitate Accounting was also shortlisted in the Independent Firm the Year category, highlighting the positive impact the firm has made and the way it is disrupting the industry and advocating for the future of accounting.

Gravitate Accounting was established by Sam Newton and Mike Crocker in 2019 with a vision to revolutionise and personalise accountancy services via a digital-first approach, supporting businesses of all sizes to achieve sustainable growth. Since then, the business has expanded its accountancy team and welcomed Joanathan Carr to the board. The team work closely with a range of organisations, from start-ups to businesses with revenues up to £45m, and the firm’s outsourced FD services continue to be in particular demand.

Sam Newton, co-founder of Gravitate Accounting, said: “It’s definitely been a busy start to 2023 and we’re really pleased to have welcomed new clients and new team members. The award win in February was humbling and recognition of what we’ve collectively achieved over the last few years. Being able to start the year in this way is testament to the hard work and superb skills of our team.

“We recognise that it’s a tough time economically for so many businesses and continue to work closely with all clients to prepare them for all eventualities. There have been a lot of regulatory changes in recent months and we’re here to guide and support businesses of all sizes throughout so that they can base decisions on solid advice.”
