The director general of the Institute of Directors (IoD) has been announced as the guest speaker at IoD South Yorkshire’s annual dinner.

Jon Geldart was appointed director general in October 2019. He previously spent 30 years working in the professional services sector, most recently at Grant Thornton International, responsible for the organisation’s interests in China.

Jon has a long-standing connection with the IoD and was chair of IoD Yorkshire and North East.

Jon will join business leaders for the South Yorkshire dinner at Cutlers’ Hall, Sheffield on 5 May 2022. Directors from sectors including advanced manufacturing, professional services and the public and third sectors will be at the dinner to hear Jon’s address on business resilience.

Jon said: “I’m delighted to be joining the South Yorkshire business community at this prestigious event. Resilience across all sectors is the watchword as directors look to build back from the past two years and emerge stronger than before.

“South Yorkshire directors are to be congratulated on their endeavours to recover from the pandemic, demonstrating the benefits of resilience although undoubtedly more will be needed over the coming months.”

The IoD South Yorkshire dinner is a black-tie event and is open to IoD members and non-members. Charity partner on the evening is Cavendish Cancer Care – a Sheffield based charity supporting people living with cancer.

This year’s event sponsors are CMS, BHP and Sheffield Universities’ Managing Directors’ Club.
