Kwas, the Huddersfield based natural wine shop and bar, have launched a crowdfunder campaign to support an expansion and new site located in their hometown’s railway arch buildings. Their expansion follows an 80% increase in sales since the first lockdown thanks to numerous additions to their offering including groceries, local and national delivery, organic veg box subscriptions and more.

Opened in December 2018 by Duncan Sime, an ex-record label boss and artist Ola Dabrowska, the couple started their business with the intention of bringing the world of natural and chemical free wine to their beloved hometown. Working with friends, importers and wine makers from all over the world, Duncan and Ola brought something new to the town while creating a fun atmosphere where people with any level of knowledge of wine can come, be welcomed, share a drink and if they like, find out a little more about this burgeoning movement.

Planning to open their new site in July 2021, the new Kwas site will include bar space, deli, kitchen and permanent grocery store – all under one arch in the centre of Huddersfield.

Having secured the initial lease agreement to the Archway Three site, Kwas will use the funds raised from the crowdfunder to carry out an essential refurbishment, kitchen installation and full fit out for the bar, deli and grocery shop. ‘Kwas Two’ as the couple have come to call it, will involve a bigger seating area, an even wider drinks selection, full time grocery store with more access to Organic Fruit, Veg and Bread six days a week, zero waste refill station, a deli section with food to takeaway and eat in, Darkwoods Filter Coffee, tray bakes and lots more.

As they get settled in the new venue, Kwas will introduce an exciting lineup of rotating food vendors and the welcome return of supper clubs from some incredibly exciting chefs. Alongside the dining events, Kwas will be hosting wine tasting events, live music, community meet ups and much more.

Looking to raise £15,000 to support the expansion of their business, Kwas are offering an exciting array of rewards for funders including private hire, private tasting events, a year's worth of wine, a year's worth of veg, limited edition merch and more with some special surprises still to announce.
