Housebuilder Barratt and David Wilson Homes Yorkshire West recently hosted its second fundraising quiz to support Magic Breakfast’s mission to ensure no child or young person is too hungry to learn.

Research by the charity has shown that eating breakfast is a vital part of improving learning, attendance at school, and overall health and wellbeing in children and young people.

The developer’s suppliers and sub-contractors took part in a quiz where all the proceeds from the evening including, raffle tickets for generously donated prizes, and entry to the quiz went towards the charity.

The evening pit the suppliers and sub-contractors against one another in an exciting quiz, with Jacksons Plastering coming out victorious at the end of the evening.

The developer raised £5,000 for the charity and the funds will help Magic Breakfast to provide 18,000 breakfasts for children and young people across disadvantaged areas in England and Scotland. The homebuilder also added 28p to each drink order, meaning every drink bought at the quiz covered the cost of a breakfast for one child.

Liz Little, head of corporate partnerships at Magic Breakfast said: “Magic Breakfast is delighted to have received a donation from Barratt and David Wilson Homes Yorkshire West. With your incredible support, we are able to provide over 17,800 breakfasts for children and young people at risk of going hungry.

“A nutritious breakfast helps ensure that no child is too hungry to learn, enabling children and young people to reach their potential. Thank you, your support is highly valued!”

Lindsey Sills, commercial director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Yorkshire West, comments: “We’re incredibly proud of our relationship with Magic Breakfast. It’s important to us to not only donate through a variety of fundraising activities, but also continue supporting their campaigns across the whole business.

“We can’t thank our suppliers and subcontractors enough for taking part in the quiz for Magic Breakfast, and congratulations again to Jacksons Plastering for winning!”

The Barratt Foundation is providing £500k over two years to help end child morning hunger as a barrier to learning for children and young people in the UK.
