Avant Homes Yorkshire has completed the purchase of 4.46-acre site on Lidget Lane in Pilley, where it will deliver a £14m development of 49 new homes.
The housebuilder was granted planning permission for the development in March by Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council. In total, the build is expected to take around 18 months and will create more than 85 jobs across construction and sales.
Named St Paul’s Bank, the development will offer homebuyers a collection of highly desirable two, three, four and five- bedroom homes across nine of Avant’s signature housetypes, just five miles from Barnsley town centre.
Groundworks will commence at the end of August, with the marketing suite expected to be open by January 2021. The showhomes are expected to be ready to view by April 2021, whilst the first homes are due to be ready for occupation in November 2021.
Alongside providing high quality homes for the area, Avant Homes will also contribute £226,000 towards a sustainable travel plan for the area. Of the 49 homes for sale, three have been designated as affordable housing.
Avant Homes Yorkshire managing director, Chris Coley, said: “We’re very pleased to have completed the purchase of the land at St Paul’s Bank after planning was granted for the site earlier this year.
“The development will offer a wide range of homes and, combined with its location close to the village of Pilley, with fantastic commuter links to Barnsley, Leeds, Sheffield and Wakefield, it makes it a highly attractive location for a variety of buyers.
“Since sales and construction resumed across all our developments in June we’ve seen a significant surge in enquiries from prospective buyers. This has also been buoyed by the increase in the stamp duty threshold making it a great time to buy a new home. We expect St. Paul’s Bank to be hugely popular and look forward to getting works underway.”
