Hornsea based security manufacturer continues to fly the flag for British export

Heald Ltd, the UK’s leading hostile vehicle mitigation manufacturer, has been announced as one of the Department for International Trade’s Export Champions for the second year in a row.

Export Champions are selected by the Department for International Trade (DIT) for their approach to growing the UK economy through exporting and, as Export Champions, Heald will play a role in encouraging their peers in the Northern Powerhouse region to follow suit.

Even with challenges posed during the past year, Heald continues to grow from strength to strength with turnover expected to top 30% this financial year. Export sales continue to be a significant part of Hornsea based firm’s business and during the past 12 months the firm has continued to grow its footprint in a number of markets across the world including the USA, Australia, Singapore, Europe and the Middle East.

The Export Champion community is part of DIT’s Exporting Strategy and was introduced in response to a desire from businesses to receive peer-to-peer exporting support.

Bev Mullin, DIT’s deputy head of region for the North West, said: “Our Export Champions all display excellence in global ambition, and each is well-placed to help other local businesses explore their own exporting journey. It’s great to have Heald Ltd on board once again as an Export Champion as they are a shining example, exporting around 70% of their products around the globe.

Even with the challenge of the past year, Yorkshire Export Champions have taken part in 1103 activities in total, more than any other region nationally. From speaking at events, taking part in roundtables, and providing feedback on policy to hosting visits, featuring in PR activity, sharing advice to new exporters, and everything in between - we are really very grateful for the support our Export Champions have provided, especially in the challenging circumstance”

Responding Heald managing director, Debbie Heald MBE said: “Export plays a significant part in our business success and I am therefore delighted that Heald continues to be recognised as one of the leaders in British export. We look forward to working with the DIT export community and sharing our export insights and advice with businesses looking to boost their export operations.”

The announcement comes following Heald gaining new distributor partnerships through 2020 in Germany, Sweden and South East Asia to further enhance their footprint in these countries.
