The UK’s leading developer of specialised leak detection and environmental protection systems, Andel, was one of a handful of businesses invited to attend an Olympic Bid Committee meeting recently.

The Yorkshire SME showcased its water sustainability products for officials for the Winter Olympics and Paralympics due to be held in Cortina, Italy in 2026.

The meeting came through Andel’s subsidiary in the Netherlands, Andel BV when representatives attended the Ecomondo Show - an event for ecological transition and the Dutch Consulate invited selected companies at the show who could provide products and services in line with the Winter Olympic sustainable infrastructure strategy.

The Yorkshire manufacturer has more than 30 years of experience in leak detection, pollution prevention and flood defence and an impressive customer base that includes the Houses of Parliament, The Pentagon, Hong Kong International Airport and Google, and the Olympic Bid Committee was interested in seeing how its sustainable products could be used for new build athlete accommodation across seven locations for the Olympic Village.

Sales & export manager, Gerbren Haaksma said: “It was an honour to be included in the group invited to the Andel attend the Winter Olympics and Paralympics 2026 committee meeting. It was very exciting to meet the key players as well as see the venues where the events will be held.

“Our range of sustainability products and leak detection offerings has proved to be a key area of focus for the upcoming games. The committee wants to ensure that the games are sustainably managed so that the infrastructure can be utilised repeatedly in the future for multiple, diverse purposes. Attending the Ecomondo show in 2023, in collaboration with our distributor AGT and the support we received from the Dutch Embassy in Italy proved to be invaluable.”
