Preparations are well underway for the launch of a new bar and restaurant in Slaithwaite. Empire House – the business members’ club that was established in 2021 – is set to become home to a small plates restaurant, called Braise.

Founded by Jonny Wood and Paul Coath, the team behind the successful Two Cocks Chicken pop-up, Braise is set to bring a vibrant dining experience to the heart of Slaithwaite – and opened to the public on Wednesday 16th October.

Earlier this year, Empire House sought to find a business to lease its bar and kitchen on evenings and weekends, allowing it to focus on enhancing its membership experience. After exploring several potential collaborations, Jonny and Paul, who wanted to expand their operations, emerged as the perfect fit.

Starting later this month, Braise will be a permanent fixture at Empire House, introducing a diverse menu that brings something new to the village.

Weekly Menu at Braise:

  • Wings Wednesday: Indulge in a mouthwatering selection of chicken and cauliflower wings.
  • Thursday to Saturday: Enjoy a rotating menu of small plates and gourmet burgers.
  • Sunday Roasts: Gather family and friends for a traditional roast served family-style, making Sundays a special occasion.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Braise to Empire House to enhance our offering,” said Amy North Byram, founder. “The partnership means that we can focus on growing memberships, running member events and mid-week commercial bookings, whilst Braise develops the social scene for both members and non-members.

“It’s exactly what the village is missing – a place to have a few social drinks over some shared plates, from Wednesday to Saturday, and a roast on a Sunday. They will also be offering lunches to our members, mid-week, so it’s a mutually beneficial partnership.”

In addition to their regular menu, Braise will offer the Empire House space for private event hire, including business launches, birthdays, and other celebrations, providing a unique venue for memorable gatherings.

Jonny said: “We are thrilled to be moving into Empire House, it's an amazing building steeped in history and we can't wait to bring our food to the people of Slaithwaite.

“Paul and I have known each other and worked together for over 12 years and with over 40 years of food industry experience between us we truly believe we can bring something special to Empire House and look forward to meeting the locals and introducing them to Braise.”

Braise’s opening times will vary in October, ahead of a grand opening event on Friday 25th October.
