Two local charities are celebrating receiving an early Christmas treat from grab hire company, RJC Plant Services. The Clothing Bank and Sleepsafe Selby both posted requests for support on social media and RJC responded with a donation of £200 worth of new clothing and a £200 food voucher for the respective charities.

John Harrison, co-director of the Church Fenton based business said: “We know this time of year can be particularly difficult for charities, never mind with the added challenges of the cost of living crisis and energy price increases. We wanted to extend our support to two local causes we know have done some great work throughout the year and offer a little something to further help their service users.”

The Clothing Bank, established in 2020 has 93 volunteer drop off points across Yorkshire and supplies clothing to those in need. RJC Plant Services has purchased £200 worth of new clothing for adults and children including leggings, hoodies and tracksuit bottoms.

Sleepsafe Selby provides temporary accommodation and food for up to 6 individuals with the aim of breaking the cycle of homelessness and rough sleeping. The donation of a voucher for £200 to spend at Selby’s Cables Butchers is a welcomed gesture at this time of year.

Sleepsafe volunteer, Scott Armstead, said: “We are extremely grateful to RJC for reaching out to find out how they can support us. With Christmas coming up, it’s important for us to create a welcoming environment for our service users as it can be a very difficult time emotionally and mentally. This donation will ensure we have some brilliant meals over the festive period to help create some positive memories and experiences as a community.”

RJC Plant Services has established a strong reputation for supporting their local community and charities having been awarded a One Big Thank You this year on BBC The One Show and being a finalist in BBC Radio York’s Make A Difference Awards.

Chris Jackson, co-director adds: “It is the season of goodwill and we wanted to end it as we started by supporting people in our local community who need some additional help and recognition. The two charities make a huge difference to so many and we’re happy to play a small part in helping them continue to do a brilliant job.”

RJC Plant Services Ltd supplies grab hire, road sweeper and aggregates to both commercial and domestic clients across Yorkshire.
