Thanks to the generosity of Bradford Metro Bank’s colleagues and customers, Bradford Central Foodbank and Advice Centre has received 97kg of emergency food for local people in need. The money raised to purchase the groceries was raised through a prize raffle with the prizes donated by local business Aldens Transmissions and donations.
Bradford Central Foodbank serves the needs of a very deprived community as Bradford is ranked the fifth most income deprived local authority in England with 29% of children living below the poverty line. Last year the foodbank provided 127,809 meals to 14,201 local people.
“Just two months ago, our colleagues and customers donated 42kg of food to the Bradford Central Foodbank and Advice Centre,” said Bradford Metro Bank local business manager, Lizzie Jowett. “The demands on the foodbank in the midst of the current cost of living crisis are tremendous and we are so grateful for the unstinting generosity of Richard from Alden Transmissions, our colleagues and customers that we have been able to make yet another substantial donation to help our local community in crisis.”
The foodbank is currently appealing for these much needed donations - tinned puddings and custard, juice, UHT milk, jam, tinned tomatoes, pulses, biscuits, tinned soup, beans and fish, tea, coffee, cereals, lentils and toilet rolls.
