Balby Veterinary Centre, which has been caring for local pets in Doncaster and Rotherham for more than 50 years, has joined one of the UK’s most progressive veterinary groups, White Cross Vets.
Both companies are part of IVC Evidensia, which is Europe’s largest veterinary care provider comprising an expansive network of clinics, hospitals and out-of-hour centres based across 11 countries.
The Balby practice, has now undergone an extensive rebrand that has seen White Cross Vets’ signage installed externally, and sections of the practice have been refurbished as part of the process.
The practice also now benefits from digital x-ray and ultrasound machines, an on-site laboratory and a technologically advanced surgical theatre. It’s also able to take advantage of White Cross Vets’ small animal expertise which include endoscopy and ultrasonography services as well as offering all types of surgery.
Other White Cross Vets’ initiatives that have been introduced include separate cat and dog wards with all the latest pet calming technology including pheromone diffusers, ultra-soft bedding and warm LED lighting.
White Cross Vets has been caring for pets for 80 years, having started in West Yorkshire in 1937 and now employs a 240 strong team across 22 practices in the UK. The group also operates another South Yorkshire practice in Handsworth near Sheffield, which opened in 2018.
Rebecca Verity has been appointed clinic director at White Cross Vets after previously working at the group’s Handsworth practice. Rebecca said: “When this role came available, I immediately put myself forward for the job and the opportunity to lead the changeover at Balby. This practice has been a longstanding and integral part of the local community in Balby for many years and bringing it into the White Cross Vets group is a fantastic fit for both the existing team and our clients.
“We are now looking forward to further developing our services and building on the high standards of integrity and care that the practice is already renowned for providing to pets across Doncaster and Rotherham. Our entire team are passionate pet owners and ultimately our goal is to treat every pet like it’s our own, and we’re already receiving fantastic feedback from clients about the changes.”
Laura Paterson, group clinic director said: “The Balby team are all very experienced and passionate about what they do, with a focus on quality veterinary medicine and treatment, and they’re a very welcome addition to the White Cross Vets family.”
