Brighouse-based commercial and industrial lettings specialist and landlord, Towngate PLC, has agreed a five-year lease with Lassic Group, on a 35,125 sq ft warehouse – creating 30 additional jobs within West Yorkshire.

Lassic Group supplies household products and occasional furniture to national and independent retailers across the UK, and will use the Brighouse-based unit as an additional storage and distribution depot – in addition to its 200,000 sq ft head office and warehouse in Bradford, which the firm owns freehold.

Forming part of the Armytage Road Industrial Estate, the unit has been extensively refurbished, with work including the electrical rewiring of the warehouse and offices, roofing repairs, installation of a new pedestrian door and roller shutters, as well as new LED lighting throughout the warehouse and fire alarm system.

Tom Lamb, property manager for Towngate PLC, commented: “It is a pleasure to welcome Lassic Group to one of our Armytage Road units, while also being a positive sign for the commercial property industry because the space was vacant for such a short period of time.”

Suresh Handa, joint managing director of Lassic Group with Raj Handa, added: “We are very excited that we have secured this large, high bay property for another distribution centre for the Lassic Group.

“The move will create around 30 additional jobs at the Brighouse site, taking our overall headcount to 110 across the two locations. This will form a key part of our plan to further grow the business into one of UK’s leading flat pack furniture suppliers.

“We would like to thank everybody who has been involved in the process, including our Lassic Group staff, Pardeep Khela and Manjit Virdee from Schofield Sweeney, and Philip Caspell from Holder & Co for making this deal happen.”

Representing Towngate PLC, Holder & Co’s consultant Philip concluded: “We are delighted to have completed this letting on behalf of Towngate. The rental agreement was achieved with a minimal void period and at a strong level which is testament to the quality of Towngate’s portfolio.

“This transaction further demonstrates the depth of demand within Yorkshire’s industrial and logistics market.”

The property – which has an eaves height of 14.2m and two-storey office space – is strategically situated on the popular Armytage Road Industrial Estate and sits adjacent to J25 of the M62 motorway.
