Keighley College is becoming the driving force for economic recovery in the region, by offering free adult courses to upskill and provide pathways to employment.
In a bid to revive the local economy following the pandemic, the college has launched a range of courses for adults who are unemployed, have been made redundant or are on low income.
The free programmes cover a range of topics including digital and IT, English, maths, health and social care and teaching.
These bespoke courses have been designed alongside the college’s recently launched Skills Support Hub, a community initiative to signpost those who have been made redundant, furloughed or unemployed to appropriate organisations for upskilling, career advice and building confidence.
Steve Kelly, Principal at Keighley College, said: “Supporting the community during such a difficult time is one of our top priorities. We hope to assist those who have been worst affected in the district and inspire them to learn exciting new skills and meet job application criteria, enabling them to reach higher skilled roles.
“The courses are mostly part-time, delivered both online and face-to-face in a Covid-19 safe environment at Keighley College. By working with industry experts and local employers, we hope to continue building economic resilience in our adult community.”
