As part of its 2022 Seasonal Cask Beer Range, Black Sheep Brewery has announced the launch of its popular pint, Black Sheep IPA - available in cask for the first time ever for pubs from next month.
Recognising the work of the independent brewers in West Coast of America, who gave the classic ‘IPA’ style a new lease of life, Black Sheep has used pungent new world hops to offer fragrant notes of tropical fruits and sticky pine. The hops combine perfectly with Black Sheep’s famous Yorkshire Square fermentation system to give this IPA a classic, dry finish.
Black Sheep IPA is a robust and hop-dominant pint with a rounded malt base, offering the perfect refreshing pint to enjoy as the weather begins to warm up. The 4.6% beer is made with Citra, Simcoe, and Columbus hops, which are complimented by the drink’s pale malt blend, allowing the fruity, piney flavours to blossom. A faint bitterness completes the brew.
To further support the upcoming 30th anniversary, the brewery recently launched its Drink Cask Beer campaign, embarking on a mission to tackle the misconceptions that surround cask ale, helping reposition cask beers such as Black Sheep IPA to a new, younger audience.
Jack Scott Paul, brand & communications manager, commented on the launch of Black Sheep IPA: “We are so pleased to announce the launch of Black Sheep IPA, as part of our 30th anniversary seasonal cask beer range!
“It’s no secret that here at Black Sheep, we’re incredibly proud of our roots and the trailblazing spirit that Paul Theakston showed in 1992 to make a stance against bland beer. Black Sheep IPA is inspired by the pioneering brewers of the USA who have given the IPA style a new lease of life, and we can’t wait for cask beer drinkers up and down the country to enjoy drinking this IPA, as much as we have enjoyed brewing it.”
Black Sheep IPA is the second in the brewery’s Seasonal Cask Beer Range, in celebration of Black Sheep’s upcoming 30th anniversary.
Just this month, Black Sheep launched Finisher, a single-hopped pale ale, in support of the England Rugby Team in the Six Nations.
The Seasonal Cask Beer range is Black Sheep’s biggest seasonal calendar ever, chosen by its expert brewing team, blending classic British beers and modern, craft styles with a variety of limited-edition beers.
The Yorkshire brewery is launching a new beer each month, as well as bringing back old favourites, available to on-trade customers in pubs across the country.
