Yorkshire’s Legal People take to the skies for Teenage Cancer Trust
Eight members of the Chadwick Lawrence team are facing their fears and braving the skies, to jump from 5,000 feet, to raise vital funds for Teenage Cancer Trust.
Trainee legal executive, Gaia Hinchcliffe was diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma back in July 2020 and work colleagues and friends are joining her in a skydive to raise funds for the charity.
Gaia was just twenty-two when she received the diagnosis, a form of blood cancer. She received treatment from the medical team at St. James’ Hospital in Leeds, along with support and care from the Teenage Cancer Trust. The trust worked closely to support Gaia throughout her diagnosis and continue to do so for so many young people. Gaia has now successfully entered total remission.
Gaia has wanted to help give back and raise money for the charity that supported her throughout her difficult journey. Raising money will ensure that the charity can continue to provide relevant services for young adults in the most challenging time of their young lives.
Partner and colleague, Steven Bonfield, who has been with the firm for 17 years and a practicing solicitor for 41 years, has also nominated himself for the challenge. To assist in the generation of further vital funds, he has agreed to jump, when the total donations raised hits £5,000!
The skydive is expected to take place in June 2021 and the team have already raised £3,000
Gaia, overwhelmed by the support from her work friends and colleagues commented: “I am deeply touched by the unwavering support and friendship I have felt by everybody at Chadwick Lawrence. A few incredible individuals have chosen to go the extra mile and help raise money for this deserving charity by taking part in the skydive – this is not only heart-warming but shows the true spirit and values of the team I work alongside and I am lucky to call my friends. I am extremely grateful to each of the participants. By supporting Teenage Cancer Trust we help to ensure more and more young people who are facing cancer receive the first-class level of care they deserve.”
Managing partner Neil Wilson commented ‘I’m so proud of the team at Chadwick Lawrence for supporting Gaia and getting involved in such a worthy cause to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust. Gaia has shown bravery and resilience throughout her diagnosis, and her continued support to other young people experiencing cancer is a testament to her kind character. Everyone at Chadwick Lawrence will be behind the team that are taking part and we encourage everyone to donate, with the added incentive for Steven to take the plunge.’
