Yorkshire Water is recruiting over 20 apprentices to fill a range of roles as part of a wider plan of investment.
Available roles at the utility span Mechanical, Electrical & Instrumentation, Automation & Control as well as Data Science, Data Analytics, I.T. Asset Management and Water Process Engineering.
Ann Stanley, funded learning lead at Yorkshire Water, said: “We have been investing hugely in our infrastructure and hope to invest even more in the years ahead – we want to bring on board even more talented people to help us do so.”
Yorkshire Water has submitted plans to Ofwat that include investment of over £7 billion between 2025 and 2030. Spending will drive efforts to deliver secure, safe, clean water supplies with improved resilience of its network of pipes and a focus on future water resource needs, and support plans for a healthy, natural environment, with a focus on protecting and improving river and coastal water quality.
Ann added: “It’s a very challenging, but exciting, time to join the water industry. We want to meet every expectation that people have of us, so anyone thinking of joining us as an apprentice can be assured that they’ll be diving right into helping us meet our targets – from service delivery to environmental impact.”
Holly Galek, who joined Yorkshire Water as a Mechanical Engineering Apprentice, said: “My apprenticeship has really allowed me to flourish. Working with leaders who have a keen interest in my progression, and being able to explore different placements within the business means that I’ve had a well-rounded and thoroughly enjoyable few years here.”
