The Nominations Roadshow 2019 started its annual tour on in June and will be hosted at a variety of venues around Yorkshire through until the 9th August when nominations officially close. This annual pilgrimage is arranged to raise awareness of the unique St. James’s Place Yorkshire Children of Courage Awards (YCCA) which recognise deserving children and young adults and encourage people to make a nomination and to get involved with the event.
The tour got underway in the Merrion Centre, Leeds and was hosted by Town Centre Securities and CitiPark – both main sponsors this year at YCCA Awards Dinner. Charlotte-Daisy Leeming, Head of Corporate Social Responsibilities at TCS PLC said:
“We are absolutely thrilled to host the 2019 Nominations Roadshow and are committed to raising awareness of this truly amazing event. We have made arrangements for a Nominations Box to be located at the Merrion Centre Management Suite, which will be held here until the 9th of August. We encourage you all to come down and nominate a deserving individual – however, if you cannot make it down to the Merrion Centre then please do vote via the YCCA’s website and bring their attention to any worthy, brave and courageous young people”.
Event Ambassador and ITV Calendar presenter, Christine Talbot joined in the fun, accompanied by the Leeds St. James’s Place Foundation Chairman, Ewan Dowes.
The next venue on the 2019 tour is Estate Agents Manning Stainton, Wetherby. The Branch Manager has a special reason for hosting the Roadshow as his daughter is to be nominated. This year Manning Stainton celebrates 6 years of supporting YCCA and has become the Sponsor of the 13-18 Fundraiser Award.
On 4th July the Roadshow will be hosted by main sponsor, Twinkles Nurseries Group at their Wetherby location to coincide with the graduation ceremony for the children leaving nursery this year. With 6 nurseries in Leeds and surrounding district Twinkles has always avidly supported the Roadshows. Commenting Jill Johnson, Managing Director, said:
“I first attended Yorkshire Children of Courage Awards as a guest and from that moment on I was literally hooked! My business has been a Main Sponsor ever since and we do our utmost to promote the whole ethos of these brilliant Awards”.
On 18th July the Roadshow moves to Bradford City FC when Richmond International Academic and Sports Academy (RIASA) will be hosting in the company of ex professional soccer and rugby league players. Then on to Lineham Farm, Adel, on 19th July where one of the Group Award Nominees – the Leeds Children’s Charity – will be showcasing their work.
YCCA is a truly unique event that combines honouring and recognising courageous young people in Yorkshire with raising funds for St. James’s Place Charitable Foundation. Originally launched in 2011, the annual awards dinner is a significant fundraiser and flagship event for the Foundation. This year’s Awards Ceremony takes place at New Dock Hall in Leeds on Friday October 11th. The Awards will be presented by Ambassador Christine Talbot and compered by Jon Hammond.
All monies raised at the event are distributed back to the Yorkshire community via grant application.
Maybe you know somebody that should be honoured? Somebody who works hard within their communities to raise funds or make a difference to the lives of others? Do you work with colleagues whose children or relatives may know potential nominees? Help us to honour them by bringing them to our attention. Nominations can be made online up until 9th August 2019 at www.yorkshirechildren.co.uk
Tickets for the 9th annual awards evening are now on public sale from Jane Clynes Events 07703 271238.
