Yorkshire-based sustainable decking brand collects national industry award
Composite Prime, the UK’s leading brand of sustainable composite decking and cladding, is celebrating a major industry accolade.
The Ilkley-based business has been awarded second place at this year’s Tomorrow’s Contract Floor Awards for its first interior floor product, Touchstone Flooring, which launched in summer 2020.
Commenting on the award win, Charles Taylor, sales director at Composite Prime said: “We are so proud to have been recognised for our first interior flooring product by such a prestigious industry award body. We believe Touchstone will revolutionise flooring; its mineral core and textured 3D surface delivers the aesthetics of natural wood or stone, without any of the disadvantages. Stone flooring can be very cold underfoot and timber can be high maintenance and prone to splinting and cracking; the properties of Touchstone means that both of these common issues are avoided.
“The award win comes after a turbulent year for many businesses so we’re really pleased to see Composite Prime’s hard work in product development pay off and we’re looking forward to continuing 2021 with an award under our belt and further innovations in the pipeline.”
The new product can be safely installed and used in high traffic environments, including bathrooms and kitchens and has been incredibly well received by traders across the board. Its UV protective layer, waterproof, scratch, slip and indent-resistant credentials make it the perfect solution for both residential and commercial projects.
Composite Prime is an ethically-minded business, with each square metre of its composite decking containing the equivalent of more than 3,000 plastic bottle caps or 280 plastic bottles. In the six years of operation the brand has saved 110 million plastic milk bottles from landfill.
