York-based organisation development consultancy h2h has launched their digital career development toolkit that will transform the way small businesses help their employees to progress in their careers.

passport2progress (p2p) is designed to help employees identify career pathways within their current workplace and support businesses to keep their best people.

The launch comes as h2h reveals that 47% of people think it would be easier to leave their current organisation and find a new job than to get a different job in the same company, based on a new study of more than 1,000 employees.

p2p aims to combat these issues by helping businesses invest in employee growth without the need for costly in-house systems or dedicated teams, instead providing a digital toolkit for individual employees that they can access at any time, guiding them to think about their career options within their current organisation.

p2p takes users through a structured four-stage journey - Anchor, Accelerate, Aspire, Achieve - empowering employees to build meaningful skills and gain clarity over their career goals, then take ownership of their development.

Through self-guided learning, activities and tips from h2h’s expert coaches, p2p acts as a virtual career coach for SMEs, start-ups and scalable businesses that do not have a dedicated employee development team.

h2h founder and MD Susan Binnersley says: “We know that employee development and retention is a key challenge for businesses of all sizes, but particularly SMEs and start-ups that lack the internal resources of their larger competitors. Career development plays a key role in job satisfaction, and employees that feel supported in their ambitions are more likely to remain loyal to their employer.

“p2p helps to address both these challenges by giving employees all the expertise and tools of an in-house career development team, without the expense or commitment. p2p is five years in the making and I’ve poured more than two decades of my own experience into designing an accessible, affordable solution for small businesses and start-ups, who need our support more than ever in the current climate.”
