Work completes at £12.5 million student accommodation scheme
Work is complete on a stunning new £12.5 million student accommodation scheme in Leeds and more than 50% of the development’s 87 apartments have already been reserved, which demonstrates the level of demand in the city for high quality student accommodation.
The seven-storey development, known as Union, has been developed by Burley Place Ltd (BPL) with national-contractor Tolent, as the principal contractor. The building fronts directly onto Burley Street, within easy walking distance of both the University of Leeds and Leeds Beckett University, as well as Leeds city centre.
Hamze Idriss, managing director at BPL, said: “Union will take student accommodation in Leeds to the next level in terms of the accommodation on offer and the lifestyle students who live here will enjoy. Every apartment has been specifically designed to combine spacious living areas with their own high quality kitchens and luxury bathrooms.
“There is also a superb range of facilities within the development, including a gym, gaming areas, and large communal lounges and kitchens where students can relax and socialise. As a result, it’s proving very popular with students who are already reserving apartments to move into from December.”
John Currie, regional director for Tolent, said: “Union will become a landmark building for Burely Street, setting a whole new benchmark in terms of space, facilities and overall quality.
“Tolent has completed over 3,000 student apartments across several major cities including Leeds, York, Newcastle, Liverpool and Manchester and this project is another fantastic development to put our name to.”
Leeds estate agent HOP has been appointed to market and manage the development exclusively. Neil Dawkin, general manager at HOP, said: “The size and standard of accommodation on offer at this development, combined with very impressive communal facilities, means Union really stands out from the crowd.
“As a result, and despite the backdrop of Covid-19, we are generating high levels of enquiries and already have reservations from students across the globe, including China and Indonesia, as well as the UK. The first students will move in during December and January, and there’s plenty of interest in the remaining apartments, so we’d advise anyone interested to contact us now.”
All the apartments at Union benefit from en-suite luxury bathrooms, modern kitchens, entertaining space, double beds, contemporary furniture, flat screen TVs and high-speed fibre optic internet. The development also includes several wheelchair friendly apartments.
In addition, Union offers secure access, a concierge service, 24-hour security, games zone, cinema room and a large, well-equipped gym, as well as study areas, communal lounge, secure cycle storage, electric vehicle charging points and laundry facilities. There is also a large communal kitchen and social space for get-togethers, parties, and other events. In addition, Co-op will be opening a handy convenience store on the ground floor.
Prices for a fully furnished property at Union start at £950 per month, including all utility bills, gym membership, high speed WIFI and contents insurance.
