William's Den launches pioneering new season in style
William’s Den, the multi-award-winning East Yorkshire children’s tourist attraction, is launching its spring/summer season on Monday May 1 with family favourite Bluey and a big blue inflatable assault course to give families even more to enjoy.
The unique family destination at North Cave, near Brough, has enjoyed a successful start to 2023.
Tor Carver, who created William’s Den with her husband Christian on their farm six years ago, explained that the popular attraction had had an exciting Easter holiday period with hundreds of families making fun memories together.
She said: “As we all know, these are challenging times, with the cost-of-living crisis making a real difference to everyone’s disposable incomes. So we were delighted that we have been busy so far this year as we strive to make William’s Den one of the finest family tourist destinations in the north of England.”
Last year’s brand-new attractions included a mouth-watering homemade ice cream parlour and a new tepee with a decking area with the highlight being that planning permission was granted for a camping site, which is now fully open.
“We made huge strides last year but know that we cannot stand still, so we’re adding to our amazing play days with fun events and, have introduced our Play Pioneers, who will be entertaining everyone on site and making each trip to William’s Den unique. There will be two pioneers on site every Saturday, Sunday and during school holidays, who are brilliant at co-ordinating activities and working with children and families.”
Weekend Adventures at William's Den, a key part of the year, are now underway and open every Friday to Sunday, with William’s Spring Adventure tickets available for the May half term holiday, now on general sale.
Tor added: "We’re very excited to be hosting Bluey on the first Bank Holiday as we know she’s in high demand among children (and their parents!) We’re hoping that she’ll enjoy seeing all of the indoor and outdoor play features we have here and maybe will even inspire some imaginative adventures for our visitors!
“For our Spring Adventures, we’re featuring the 175, the biggest inflatable assault course in the north of England. It’s suitable for all ages so parents and children can enjoy this together, it’s incredibly fun!
“Our attractions, together with the camping site, underline that William’s Den is an attraction for all the family, not just children. Our homemade ice cream and wood-fired pizzas reinforce our reputation for award-winning food, while the camping site provides the opportunities for families to escape from the pressures of modern life and to enjoy our beautiful East Yorkshire countryside.”
Tor explained: “We are open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10am so why not reconnect over a den build, explore the woods, or retreat to the indoor Den in wet weather? Put down those devices and enjoy that feeling of getting away from it all in the fresh East Yorkshire Wolds air.”
Meanwhile, Adventure Play tickets are available via www.williamsden.co.uk for this weekend, including Bluey’s visit on Monday; and tickets are also on general sale now for William’s Spring Adventures on Saturday May 27, which will provide the perfect curtain raiser for summer. With the Play Pioneers on hand, and the 175 in place, other activities include camping, den building and woodland trails.
Events later in the year include Father's Day at William's Den (June 18); the Big Camp Out (June 30-July 2); Rock the Den (August 26) and Halloween Nights (October 20).
William’s Den’s has won a host of awards since launching in 2017, including the Visitor Attraction of the Year category in the prestigious Remarkable East Yorkshire Tourism Awards (REYTAs) 2022.
The Judges praised William’s Den, commenting: “William’s Den provides a fantastic family day out for all ages, whatever the weather. Children have so much fun playing in the unique indoor area which they enjoy immensely – proving its worth on rainy days.
“The famous wood-fired pizzas are a big hit with all the family, as was the ice cream parlour with so many flavours to choose from. Outside there is lots of space and plenty of things for the children to enjoy, with the zip line being a particular hit. Staff are enthusiastic, friendly and helpful, especially in the café where it was very busy. An extremely enjoyable visit that we would recommend to friends and family.”
