Welcome to Yorkshire is delighted to be a strategic partner for the global technology festival, Tech Week Humber, a 5-day annual extravaganza of virtual and physical events, from Monday 8th to Friday 12th November.
Hosting the Tech Expo Business Breakfast, on Tuesday 9th November from 8am, Welcome to Yorkshire will welcome attendees at the start of the flagship Tech Expo event at Hull’s Bonus Arena. Technology representatives will meet and network with representatives from attractions and businesses across the tourism sector, an ideal opportunity to find out how technology can benefit organisations and to get a sneak preview of the Tech Expo exhibition before the doors open at 10am.
Aiming to promote the Humber as a location for technology and innovation, this year’s Tech Week will have a packed schedule to inspire future generations into technology careers, as well as allowing companies to showcase their tech products and services. There’ll be an impressive line-up of speakers, expo booths, networking opportunities, a global audience and directory access to investors, potential customers and much more.
Membership manager Rachel Underwood said “It’s fantastic that Welcome to Yorkshire is a strategic partner for Tech Week Humber 2021 and that we will be hosting a business breakfast meeting as the flagship Tech Expo event opens its doors at the brilliant Bonus Arena.
As the new Welcome to Yorkshire membership manager for Hull and East Yorkshire I am thrilled that technology will meet tourism in such a fantastic city.”
A key guest speaker at the Welcome to Yorkshire Tech Expo Breakfast will be Demetri Kalli, director of partnerships from augmented reality advertising and event specialists 3rockAR, who are working with the tourism agency on a number of fronts.
Natalie McGuire, head of commercial said “We are currently working with 3rockAR to bring to life the cycling offer in the East Riding of Yorkshire, an innovative augmented reality campaign that will immerse the user in the experience and allow us to showcase the region to audiences outside of Yorkshire.’
“The wider tech week programme is also important to the tourism and hospitality sector. We are keen to embrace any developments in technology and we are asked regularly to support organisations in hospitality and other sectors to help them grow their business through new channels.
“We are also actively aware of how important Hull has become as a tech hub for Yorkshire and it is important for us to be able to showcase that so we can bring in the best talent.”
Last year’s virtual event was a great success¸ attracting almost 3,000 attendees and reaching more than 4.5 million people from almost 50 countries.
Tech Week Humber is a global technology festival, started in 2019, reaching millions across the world and attracting influential international tech brands, including IBM, Google, Twitter, Facebook and Apple, amongst others.
