Elegant Elland venue, Bertie’s, opened its doors to over 100 very important local guests, including Mayor of Calderdale, Councillor Marcus Thompson, to mark the official launch of its luxury coffee and tea lounge.
Following an £85,000 investment to transform the venue’s ground floor Victorian lounge, Bertie’s Coffee Lounge and Tea Room is now ready to serve up an afternoon of sophistication in the town.
Opening officially on May 28, the new-look lounge has also led to the creation of six new jobs at the venue from Front of House to waiting staff and baristas.
Ahead of its launch this Bank Holiday, Bertie’s welcomed special guests from the region to its Brook Street venue on Friday May 25 to try out a range of canapes, sandwiches, scones, cakes, unique barista multi award-winning blend of coffee and a selection of loose teas.
As well as the media, businesses and online influencers, two other notable visitors in attendance included Mayor and Mayoress of Calderdale, Councillor Marcus Thompson and Mrs Nicky Chance-Thompson.
“It was fantastic to see a well-established venue bringing something new to the area for people to enjoy. I can’t believe that this hasn’t been done before, additionally it creates jobs and offers an afternoon of relaxation whether you’re with your family, friends, or on business”, said Mayor of Calderdale, Councillor Marcus Thompson.
Co-owners David Cooper and Jonathan Nichols, who revolutionised the catering company last summer, are welcoming more to enjoy an afternoon of luxury.
“We are so proud of being able to offer afternoon tea and a special treat for the people of Elland and beyond. We noticed there was a need to give people a place to enjoy during the day and all of our staff were really keen to get the coffee and tea lounge open because they knew it would be something special,” added Mr Cooper.
Bertie’s, one of the area’s best venues for unforgettable celebrations for more than three decades, is now open to the public from Monday to Friday, 10am-4pm.
