A global executive search and leadership consulting firm has donated £2,120 to a charity that raises funds to aid research into the causes of Motor Neuron Disease (MND), following a gruelling cycle challenge earlier this month.
Leeds-based TS Grale selected the ‘My Name’5 Doddie Foundation’ as its chosen charity for 2020 and successfully completed the 224 mile static ride in its offices, which is the distance between Leeds Carnegie Rugby Club and Murrayfield Rugby Stadium, where the Foundation’s founder, Doddie Weir OBE carved out an illustrious rugby league career.
Set up in 2017 by Doddie, following his diagnosis of MND, the charity also provides grants to individuals suffering from MND to enable them to live as fulfilled a life as possible.
Starting at 7am, the TS Grale team took turns to clock up 30-minute sessions and finished the challenge in seven and a half hours, with recruitment consultant, Alex Jones, totalling the most miles in half an hour of 15.9 miles.
Jason Saunders, co-founder and managing partner at TS Grale, said: “Having donned our lycra, and some tartan, it was a fabulous team effort and we are grateful to all of our clients, business associates, colleagues, families and friends who sponsored our endeavours.
“Pure Gym on Regent Street in Leeds very kindly donated the bikes and the Yorkshire Property Charitable Trust match funded us £1,000, which was a big coup.
“Our team chose to raise money throughout the year for the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation, which is a fantastic charity that works tirelessly to support people with MND and their families. Our money will not only go towards the research they are doing into this currently incurable disease, but also make a difference to people’s lives now, giving grants to help adapt their homes and money for respite activities for carers. We plan to run another fund-raising challenge later this year and can’t wait to put our bodies through their paces again for such a good cause!”
TS Grale was founded in April 2016 and currently employs a 14-strong team, with plans to expand to 30 people by summer 2022. The company provides executive search and leadership consulting services for clients operating within the Built Environment, Medical Devices, Consumer, Manufacturing and Industrial markets in the UK, Europe and North America.
