Life changing opportunities are opening up for would-be teachers across Leeds, as a multi-academy trust launches its biggest ever recruitment drive for trainee teachers.

Wellspring Academy Trust, which sponsors five schools in Leeds, has 20 spaces available for people looking to start their teaching career in the city next September. Recent graduates and graduates who are considering changing career are all eligible for the scheme, which is managed by Wellspring’s Positive Regard Teaching School Alliance.

Chris Jessup, Director of Learning at Wellspring Academy Trust, said: “This is a huge recruitment drive for new teachers, and will allow us to give more people than ever the opportunity to train for the best job in the world.

“Our approach is a unique and distinctive one, driven by Wellspring’s values, and first and foremost puts children’s wellbeing at the centre of everything we do. Wellspring is all about making a difference to the lives of children, and we really want to hear from people who feel that resonates with them.

“As a multi-academy trust with 25 schools across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, the career development opportunities with Wellspring are superb. As demand continues to grow for teachers across Leeds and further afield, the time has never been better to consider a career in teaching, whether as a first step in the career ladder or as a career change from something completely different.

“We have 20 wonderful opportunities for people who want to make a difference in their local communities by improving the life chances of young people and would urge anyone interested to get in touch to find out more.”

As well as extensive practical learning in the classroom from experienced colleagues in Wellspring schools, the scheme also combines study at Leeds Beckett University and results in a PGCE qualification, Qualified Teacher Status and Masters credits. Places are unpaid, but a range of funding options and support is available whilst training, and once qualified, salaries start at £25,000 per year.
The Leeds schools where trainees can apply to be based are Bramley Park Academy, Elements Primary School, Ebor Gardens Primary Academy, Victoria Primary Academy and Springwell Leeds, a specialist academy supporting children and young people with social., emotional and mental health needs.

Wellspring is a large multi-academy trust currently comprising 25 primary, secondary, special and alternative academies across Yorkshire and Greater Lincolnshire. The Trust has built eight new schools around the region and operates a number of non-profit and charitable enterprises all aimed at improving lives of young people.
