Trailblazing healthcare technology firm triumphs at industry awards
Global market leading technology company, Tunstall Healthcare, is celebrating after being awarded for the best use of technology in seniors housing in the Innovation category at the Health Investor Senior Housing Awards last night.
The accolade, which recognises commercial performance and investment activity in the senior housing market, was bestowed upon Tunstall for the Best Use of Technology by an independent judging panel at the awards ceremony in London’s Park Plaza Riverbank on 8th September.
Tunstall’s award entry detailed numerous case studies of its work, including Park View Nursing Home in Halifax, West Yorkshire which is part of NHS Calderdale Clinical Commissioning Group’s (CCG) Quest for Quality in Care Homes. Tunstall worked with the CCG and care home to overhaul the wired infrastructure of the call system that allows residents to alert members of staff when they need assistance, as the previous system was limited only to in-room alarms and didn’t allow for reporting functionality as well as a number of other drawbacks.
Tunstall’s Carecom provided the staff and residents with a brand-new, state of the art system. This included 12 mobile phones for staff, three wireless receivers and a property exit system by the main door. Other sensors and devices could also be added wirelessly. The new system resulted in 90% fewer alarm calls as it allowed for staff to be directly responsible for groups of residents, and staff also found they could attend a call faster thanks to the new technology.
Gavin Bashar, UK Managing director commented on the win: “It is a real honour to receive this award, and we’re exceptionally proud to be recognised for all our hard work as we strive to continue providing pioneering solutions for those in senior housing.
“Our Tunstall Cognitive Care® vision, that will utilise a combination of technology and Artificial Intelligence in the home, to detect whether the user’s health could be about to deteriorate, spot a potentially undiagnosed condition, or resolve an immediate social care need, becomes ever more tangible and achievable. We are committed to continue innovating as a market leader in our sector and are thrilled to accept this award as an indicator of our continuing achievement and dedication.”
