TopicUK expands further…

Apologies, I haven’t updated my blog in a while, I’ve barely had time to catch my breath over the last few months  visiting and signing new partners. Welcome to The Piece Hall, Calderdale Community Foundation, Rogerthorpe Manor Hotel, Applied Digital, Dakota Hotel Leeds, R J Burgess, KC Communications and Pontefract Hospice to name a few.

In addition, we have increased our print run to keep up with demand and now have a good presence in York and across the Yorkshire Coast, thanks to former Scarborough Evening News editor, Ed Asquith who has joined us as associated editor covering Scarborough, Whitby, Filey and Bridlington. We are now reaching up to 50,000 business leaders across the region. In our current edition, we have a Yorkshire Coast special which has been very well received and we were delighted to attend the inaugural Star Women’s Business Awards at the Spa in the town, organised by Ed, which honoured the many successful businesswomen from the region.

I am looking forward to visiting Whitby along with the Yorkshire Society on 1st August to celebrate the very special Yorkshire Day. If you are interested in coming along, visit the Yorkshire Society website for details.

Speaking of the Yorkshire Society, we were delighted to support them and their recent acquisition The Yorkshire Business Market at their conference in Harrogate. The event was very well attended and now we are excited to be making plans to not only move the event to Leeds next year, but make it bigger and even more special. We’ll keep you posted with developments on our website and in TopicUK over the coming months.

I’ve enjoyed many trips to the Leeds Grand Theatre too, interviewing the lovely Jake Canuso (Mateo from Benidorm) who told us about his years as a dancer supporting The Spice Girls and Kylie. His performance in the show was outstanding, what a funny brilliant production. Another interview was with Gary Lucy who appeared in the popular Full Monty and I also caught up with Peter Andre ahead of his appearance in the forthcoming production of Grease at The Leeds Grand Theatre in June. You can read my interview with Peter in our forthcoming edition.

I joined TopicUK partners Penny Appeal who celebrated their 10th Birthday with a fabulous dinner at Cedar Court Hotel Wakefield and Barclays at the launch of Eagle Lab on East Parade, what a fantastic space that is. If you’ve not managed to call in yet, do so if you get the chance, there is a cafe on the ground floor open to the public and a fabulous bar and roof terrace on the top floor. There is permanent office space, dedicated desk space and plenty of hot desks for those just wanting a temporary base in Leeds.

Mandy and I spent two lovely days in York, distributing TopicUK and speaking to lots of businesses. You can read all about this in our forthcoming edition due out in early June. We also attended the launch of Yorkshire Children of Courage at the Emerald Stadium, which Mandy hosted. So excited to partner again this year and attend the main awards event in October alongside 700 other guests. TopicUK magazine will be with us too!

I have lots coming up too. On a personal level I’m excited that my daughter’s wedding is in just 2 weeks time. It has been a year in planning, but now I know it’s finally arrived, I have a hat!

In business, we will be partnering and attending the Institute of Directors, Director of the Year awards again this year for the fourth time, on 4th July at The Principal Hotel in York. This is one of the highlights in our calendar as we get to meet lots of fabulous businesses and entrepreneurs from across the region and have the chance to showcase our partners as every attendee receives a copy of TopicUK.

We’ll be back in York at the end of July when we visit York Races and see the wonderful Tears for Fears, and we’ll be giving our readers the opportunity to win tickets to see them too. You’ll be able to read about that in TopicUK and speaking of races, I can’t wait for the Royal Ascot Day at Bibis Italian Restaurant in Leeds in June. I will be dusting off my new hat (well you have to get your money’s worth don’t you!) and joining lots of lovely ladies for what promises to be an amazing event. They even had a real horse visit them to launch the event!

I have a busy summer coming up and wherever I am in the region, I will be making sure that all our partners businesses will be talked about. If you want to be one of them, give me a call.

Bye for now,
Gill
