Timothy West CBE is heading back to Yorkshire
The 35th Yorkshire Awards, the region’s most prestigious, will honour a host of well-known names from the Arts, Sport, Business and Community Services including Gabby Logan MBE, Stephen Cottrell, the Archbishop of York, Kevin Sinfield CBE and young George Webster of CBBC to name but a few.
The best of Yorkshire’s business world will be honoured too with Yorkshire Tea receiving the International Awards, and the NHS will be celebrated with a Special award to commemorate it’s 75th anniversary last year.
But the highlight of the night will be the Lifetime Achievement award.
Timothy West was born on in Bradford in 1934 is a world-famous star of stage and screen. He was awarded the CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) for his services to drama in the 1984 Queen's Birthday Honours List.
With a successful career now spanning seven decades, he has established himself as one of Britain's best loved and most versatile actors, best known on the screen for his work as a character actor though it is his stage performances, especially in Shakespeare, which have most strikingly showcased his talent.
He has been married to the actor Prunella Scales for 60 years, with whom he has often appeared on stage. Their son Samuel is an acclaimed actor-director too, often playing a younger version of his father in their joint appearances.
The Gala Dinner on 1st March 2024 will be held at The Queens Hotel in Leeds for the first time and compered by ‘TV couple’, Christine Talbot and Duncan Wood. Renowned singer Lizzie Jones MBE will perform and funds will be raised for Macmillan Cancer Support and Penny Appeal.
It will be a night to remember for everyone, especially Timothy.
