The construction of a 40,000 sq ft, state of the art plastic recycling facility for Esterform Packaging Ltd, on Moor Lane Trading Estate in Sherburn-in-Elmet on the edge of Leeds has been completed.

The UK’s most advanced plastic recycling facility will now provide Britvic and other clients with a secure, long-term supply of UK-sourced recycled polyethylene terephthalate (PET). The project management and cost consultancy for the build was handled by Gent Visick’s (GV’s) building consultancy team, after the company initially advised on the acquisition of the site by an investment and development group.

Following this success, GV’s building consultancy team is now advising on more than 1m sq ft of new industrial development throughout Yorkshire at two sites in Thirsk and Doncaster.

Dalton 49 in Thirsk will see a major new logistics park created for developers Opus North and Rougemont. Formerly part of RAF Dalton, the 43-acre site can deliver around 650,000 sq ft of employment space, creating a regionally significant employment site supporting hundreds of jobs.

Director of building consultancy at GV, Gavin Ritchie, said: “Planning for Dalton 49 has just been submitted and we will be providing project management services for the impressive project. Our team is also advising on another significant industrial site in Doncaster, where planning will be submitted later this year.”

In addition, GV is providing project management, contract administration, planning and agency advice on a 30,000 sq ft unit at Maybrook Industrial Park on Armley Road in Leeds for Avon Capital Estates. Overseeing the refurbishment works, which include a new composite roofing replacement and installation of a new Solar PV system. GV’s agency team has already secured a 19,000 sq ft let at the site.

GV is also providing project management and cost consultancy advice to Predator Nutrition for a new build 10,750 sq ft industrial unit on Thornes Farm Way at Cross Green Industrial Estate in Leeds. Plans have been approved for the build and detailed designs are now being progressed by the team. GV’s agency team is also marketing the unit to let on behalf of Predator Nutrition.

Director of building consultancy at GV, Gavin Ritchie, said: “GV is in a unique position where our project management team can work with our agency team to get a better understanding of developer and occupier requirements, to ensure we are ahead of the game in a very fast moving sector.

“We have seen a significant increase in new build industrial projects over the last year, driven by high demand from both occupiers and investors, and with less than one year’s supply of standing stock of modern warehouse accommodation in excess of 70,000 sq ft across Yorkshire, we would expect to see further new starts announced throughout 2021. With demand matching, if not exceeding supply, this position will no doubt continue for the foreseeable future.”
