Teachers surprised with act of kindness by local company
The teachers and support staff at Kirk Fenton Primary School received a surprise end of term treat on Random Act of Kindness Day when local firm, RJC Plant Services delivered afternoon tea and cakes as a thank you for their hard work throughout the pandemic.
The 30 staff members had no idea the Church Fenton based business was dropping off the tasty treats the local firm had arranged with headteacher, Karen Williams.
Mrs Williams said: “When RJC approached me with the idea of doing something for the staff I was absolutely delighted! My team have worked incredibly hard over the last few years, as have many in teaching, and having this recognition and thank you was a wonderful and unexpected surprise. I knew the team would really appreciate the gesture.”
RJC Co-founder and director, and former Kirk Fenton Primary student, John Harrison adds: “We know these last few years have been incredibly tough for many people, but particularly those who have continued to be on the front line as key workers. The primary school is an integral part of our community, and the teachers and staff really have been local heroes. We wanted to give our thanks to them for doing such a brilliant job.”
RJC Plant Services, who provides grab hire, tipper hire, aggregates and muck away services have a reputation for giving back to the local community with regular community and charity work including delivering 50 afternoon teas to elderly residents on last year’s Random Act of Kindness Day, raising thousands of pounds for charities including the Lighthouse Construction Charity and Hollybank Trust and delivering 1000 meals to two local dog rescue centres.
Founded by Chris Jackson and John Harrison in 2013, the grab-hire business has gone from strength to strength, recently having their preferred supplier status renewed to provide road sweeping services to three councils, including York, Wakefield and Leeds, alongside providing ongoing work supporting driveway, landscaping and building businesses across Yorkshire as consumer demand continued with home and garden improvements.
Chris said: “This year has been another challenging one for many businesses, with uncertainty around lockdowns, restrictions and new Covid variants. However, as a team we have continued to grow and develop the business, working together to provide essential services to local authorities and businesses. Alongside our plans to expand the business, we’re committed to continuing to help those in need and making a difference to our local community.”
