Tattu tees off as sponsor for homelessness charity golf event
A West-Yorkshire based homelessness charity has announced the headline sponsor of its upcoming golf fundraising event, Simon on the Tee.
Simon on the Streets, which offers support to rough sleepers and vulnerable people across Leeds, Bradford and Kirklees has partnered with Leeds-based restaurant Tattu to deliver the event.
Held on Thursday 30th September at Leeds Golf Centre, Wike Ridge, businesses are invited to enter a team of four players for a round of golf teeing off at 2pm. There will be a full day of activity with competitions on the course, golf prizes for the winners and a sit-down evening meal with compere Jed Stone, silent auction, and presentation from Natalie Moran, CEO at Simon on the Streets.
Adam Jones, owner of Tattu comments: “It is important to us as a business that each of our restaurants partners with and supports a local charity. We’re constantly travelling to different cities and the visibility of homelessness is so apparent we knew we wanted to do what we could to make a difference to charities which support local homeless people.
“We saw the work Simon on the Streets were doing locally and wanted to get involved. We’ve provided ongoing support over the years and whilst we had to close in lockdown, we knew Simon on the Streets were still out on the streets supporting people, so we brought a team of chefs back from furlough, working with the charity to hand out food across Leeds. As we’ve not been able to do as much for them since the Covid pandemic, partnering as the headline sponsor for the golf event is our way of giving back.”
Twelve teams are confirmed so far with more businesses encouraged to enter. All funds go towards Simon on the Streets’ essential work in the region, which includes street-based support for people affected by homelessness, which continues throughout the pandemic.
Simon on the Streets’ CEO, Natalie Moran commented: “We’re incredibly grateful to Tattu for joining as our headline sponsor for our first face to face event since the pandemic. Tattu has been a generous supporter of ours over recent years and we’re truly grateful for all they continue to do for us to continue combatting the issues of homelessness.
We’d also like to extend our thanks to Leeds Golf Centre for use of their stunning 18-hole golf course and Brandlink Golf for supporting us to organise the event. We look forward to a fun and friendly golf competition between some great businesses.”
