Taking a trip down memory lane

Those who know me well, may recall that many (very many, to be honest) years ago, I was one of the first females in the region to sell motor cars. For those “of a certain generation” who remember the time of the Ford Granada and the days when you visited a motor dealership at midnight to collect your brand spanking new “F” plate car, you can work out that this was back in the late eighties!

My love of cars has never left me and when our Group Editor Gill Laidler asked me to review a fantastic Vauxhall Astra Elite it was like taking a trip down “memory lane” (how I used to love test drives and renew vehicle launches). The 5 door hatchback was delivered just in time for my week on the road, helping our driver James to distribute thousands of copies of our latest edition to partners across Yorkshire (thankfully the boot was spacious and the drivers seat exceptionally comfortable!)

With drop offs at The Piece Hall and Community Foundation for Calderdale in Halifax, CORE, KC Communications, Yorkshire Payments and Town Hall Dental in Huddersfield and Brighouse, plus additional trips to Leeds and Wakefield, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and you will be able to read my review in the next edition.

But let’s not be hasty, as edition 41 is still to be savoured, featuring Huddersfield born Amanda Owen, Shepherdess, wife, Farmer, businesswoman, author photographer and TV star – her skills are endless!

With over 100 printed pages including news, articles, reviews and stories from sectors including legal, IT, recruitment, the arts, travel, banking and charity, we are proud to say that 2020 promises to be a year of growth and positivity for TopicUK and its valued partners.

I would also like to say “hiya” to a friend of old, Nicky Pattinson our latest columnist and a renowned expert in sales and communications. Over coming editions she will share her knowledge and expertise in her own inimitable style.

We have also just launched our new digital sister publication “TopicUK Woman” featuring business, fashion, beauty, health and wellbeing, lifestyle and so much more for today’s woman. Why not share your news and email: PR@topicuk.co.uk

Thanks to everyone who has sent good luck wishes for my “Yorkshire Choice Awards” nomination, the closing date is February 1st and whatever the outcome at the glittering awards night in March, I am humbled by the fact that someone considered me worthy of the “Local Fundraiser of the Year” title.

I am going to “bid you farewell” for now however it won’t be for long and please do remember that I always look forward to hearing your business stories, visiting our partners and associates across Yorkshire and will happily provide the biscuits, if you can pop the kettle on.

Best Wishes
