Stafflex wins Family Business of the Year at IoD Yorkshire and North East Awards
Stafflex MD Brian Stahelin and Deputy MD Abigail Stahelin-Hall were presented with the prestigious Family Business award at the Institute of Director’s Yorkshire and North East Awards virtual ceremony on 18 November.
The hotly contested Family Business award aims to recognise individuals in second-generation or more, family businesses who have responded to the specific challenges that face directors in family firms and who have contributed to the success of the diverse, dynamic and innovative family business sector.
Stafflex has been deeply committed to actively playing a supportive role in the local community. In the last 12 months they have supported over 30 good causes from charities, sports teams, schools festivals and other projects.
Abigail Stahelin-hall, Deputy MD commented: “This year has thrown so many curve balls, we are not sure there are any left to be thrown, so to be awarded this is incredible. It goes without saying that Stafflex owes our success to our amazing team. Every single person at Stafflex has had a year full of challenges and stresses both professionally and personally, but they haven’t let it dampen their flames and their spirits.
“Team work has strengthened and secured the future journey for our company. Stafflex have truly demonstrated what it means to be a family during difficult times, not only looking after themselves, but making sure that their candidates and their clients were ok by doing regular wellbeing check ins. As well as Stafflex’ wider team, Maggie and Paul are two rocks on the Senior Leadership team and have worked tirelessly alongside myself and Brian to ensure the success off Stafflex.
“A special mention goes to Brian, who faced his own battle earlier this year and had to leave us to it for a few months. It is a result of his strong, pragmatic, encouraging, and some say, fatherly, leadership skills that allowed us to successfully navigate Stafflex through the pandemic, onto a better, brighter future for us all. Lastly, a huge thank you to the Institute of Directors, Yorkshire and North East for this award for seeing in our team of Directors, what Stafflex see every day,” Abigail concluded.
