The Institute of Directors (IoD) has revealed the names of the business leaders shortlisted for its 2020 Director of the Year Awards.

The finalists are drawn from across Yorkshire and the North East and represent the full spectrum and diversity of business and industry, from young entrepreneurs to experienced public and private sector leaders.

The winners’ names will be revealed at a virtual awards event on 4 November.

The judging panel was chaired by Simon Walton, managing partner at Berwick Partners/Odgers Berndtson, Leeds.

Natalie Sykes, Regional Director of IoD Yorkshire and North East, said: “Congratulations are due to everyone who has made this shortlist, which is a fantastic achievement itself.

“Thanks to Simon and his judging panel for their hard work in scrutinising the entries and reaching our final shortlist. The quality of nominations was very high, which led to some difficult deliberations.”

Delroy Beverley, Regional Chairman of IoD Yorkshire and North East, said: “I’m delighted that we are able to stage this year’s prestigious awards and I am looking forward very much to presenting the highly coveted Chairman’s Award which recognises and rewards business leaders who have achieved great success in their chosen field and have also made an everlasting footprint for others to follow.”

Simon Walton added: “The judging panel had a tough task on their hands given the high quality of the entries this year. We look forward to revealing our overall winners during our virtual awards ceremony.”

Awards partners are CNG, Leeds Beckett University, Schroders Personal Wealth and Forward Ladies.
