Search is on for best Yorkshire photography

Club Insure, insurance broker to the sports and leisure industry, has launched a new photography campaign to find the best snaps to represent Yorkshire.

● Submissions open on 1st August, and will be open for entries until the end of the month
● Photographs must represent clubs and communities within Yorkshire
● Winners will be featured in a digital photography volume, with a view to produce a printed version to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK.

Leeds-based Club Insure has been inspired to celebrate all things Yorkshire this August. They are looking for photographs that perfectly represent communities in the county. The in-house marketing team have already paved the way by shooting a selection of clubs and venues to lead the volume. Now Club Insure is campaigning for other photographers to get involved in the venture.

The Yorkshire Portraits series will showcase the clubs and communities that make the Yorkshire region so unique. Club Insure is on the lookout for quirky characters, inspiring stories and interesting histories in particular. Photographers are invited to submit up to five photographs via the competition’s dedicated entry form. As photographs must feature an individual and their story, the volume will be an interesting snapshot of life in Yorkshire. Capturing the unique individuals that make up the UK’s biggest county, and recognising the challenges clubs and communities face historically and through the recent disruption, the series will shine a spotlight on these invaluable institutions to protect them for now, and the future.

Club Insure will create a photography book featuring winning entries, with plans to publish the photography series digitally and for sale in print. All profits from sales of the book will go to Prostate Cancer UK. Club Insure recently announced a three-year partnership with the charity in support of associate director Lloyd Pinder, who has been diagnosed with terminal prostate cancer. The inspirational sports fan and staunch Yorkshireman will also feature in the volume as the true epitome of brave, determined and characterful Yorkshire spirit. Club Insure will also be working with Prostate Cancer UK to highlight the stories of some of their greatest Yorkshire supporters, further raising awareness of the great work Prostate Cancer UK undertake across Yorkshire and the rest of the UK.

Lloyd said: “Fellow Yorkshire people will share my pride of God’s Own County. Community spirit runs throughout the region, and I’m proud to be part of a photography series that celebrates this and raises money for such an important cause.”

Prostate Cancer UK Senior head of fundraising Gabriella Bailey said: “Lloyd is one of around 400,000 men who are living with or after a prostate cancer diagnosis, and that number keeps rising with diagnosis in the Yorkshire and Humber region rising by 63 per cent in the past 10 years. Now, for the first time ever, it has become the  most commonly diagnosed  cancer in the UK. We’re so grateful for the continued support of Club Insure and look forward to seeing this exciting pictorial project celebrating all that’s great about Yorkshire, and it’s wonderful that proceeds of the book will help support men and their loved ones.”

Simon Mabb, managing director of Club Insure, said: “Clubs and community centres really are the beating heart of Yorkshire, and what better way to celebrate Yorkshire Day than to put these venues front and centre? It’s about time we start recognising the vital and valuable service these venues provide for their communities, and showcase the hard work of the people who make it all happen. Our photography volume will highlight these stories and show people what makes Yorkshire communities so special.”
