Following the success of the ‘Financial Fitness’ event back in February, chartered financial planner Louise Woollard – principal of Brighouse-headquartered Louise Woollard Financial – has now rescheduled her seminar for the region’s businesspeople, which was due to take place in March, before lockdown began.

For the one-hour virtual session – now taking place on Zoom between 10:00-11:00 AM on Thursday 25 June 2020 – Louise will also be joined by Greg Wright, deputy business editor at The Yorkshire Post, strategic corporate finance expert Ian Marwood and Chris Cahill, financial planner and head of private client consultancy at St. James’s Place Wealth Management.

The region’s business leaders will learn how to make the right steps along their corporate journey, to maximise the value, reputation and legacy of their company during COVID-19 and beyond – whether they intend to sell in three, thirteen or thirty years.

There will be a specific section focused on top financial tips for business owners in the current climate too.

Topics on the agenda include:

  • The impact COVID-19 has had on business valuation
  • An update on the stock market
  • Insights into the regional economy considering the Coronavirus pandemic
  • Personal and business finances which are often overlooked when selling a company
  • Prospects for Yorkshire and the Northern Powerhouse over the next five years
  • How to build an organisation’s value and preparations to avoid any financial pitfalls
  • Life after a business sale – including the monetary challenges and solutions
  • Tax-efficient income generation and estate planning
  • Commenting on the driver behind setting up the session, the organiser, Louise Woollard, said: “This event is about ensuring West Yorkshire businesspeople do all the right things throughout the lifecycle of their company, so that when the time comes to sell, they achieve the return they are hoping for.

“It’s no secret that the current situation is having a huge impact on the country’s economy, and while some businesses are maintaining momentum, some are struggling. But no matter which side of the coin people are on, it’s vital they have a clear picture of what’s going on around them and how this impacts their enterprise – not only in the present but looking ahead to the future too.

“Owners of companies large and small want to believe their organisation is their pension. But when it comes to planning their exit* and positioning their firm for sale, many learn that they’ve overestimated what it is really worth.”

From knowing how much is ‘enough’, to taking calculated risks at key points in the business journey, all the speakers will share practical tips to implement in the here-and-now, in order to create an organisation fit for the future.
