QTS give helping hand to local primary school
Leeds based rail contractor, QTS Group, has helped local primary school, Farsley Farfield, transform an outdoor concrete space into a haven for children with social, emotional or mental health needs.
After hearing of a plea from the school for assistance, QTS quickly offered the support of their team to aid the transformation.
The school was without an all-weather sports space, instead, just a concrete area which was difficult to use when wet.
The QTS team laid 175m2 of soft astroturf, which will allow the children to have an all-weather sports space, perfect for energetic PE lessons. At other times, this space will be a quieter, inclusive recreation space for some of the pupils who are in need of additional support from pastoral staff and peers.
Gary Burnett, Operations Director for QTS Group said: “As a business with community at its heart, we were pleased to help Farsley Farfield when we heard they were in need of some assistance.
“Our team spent two days with the caretaker of the school to repoint brickwork, level concrete, paint basketball hoop backboards and lay new astroturf, all to make sure it was all complete for the children coming back from their Easter break.
“Having outside space to learn and play in is vitally important to the development of our young people and we really hope that they enjoy their new outdoor environment.”
Peter Harris, Headteacher added: “We could not have completed this project without QTS. Having their support has been invaluable and has saved the school the cost of installation.
“The team were a superb help and a credit to themselves and their company. They worked hard and showed great attention to detail. They really strived to ensure that this was a quality installation: working to smooth out rough sections of concrete, making drain covers flush and working carefully around downpipe outlets.
“Many of the best projects in the school have relied on the generous support of businesses. Along with funding from our fantastic PTA, support from local business like QTS gives us the chance to enhance our provision for all of our children - the cherry on the top of what we can provide.”
