Pure Bite donates to Fareshare Yorkshire

Pure Bite, the flagship healthy snack brand in Bite UK Snacks’ portfolio, has donated more than 28,000 packets of Pure Bite healthy snacks to surplus food redistribution charity Fareshare – which will be diverted to people in need.

The significant donation will be redistributed by FareShare’s Yorkshire warehouses to charities and projects across the county and wider region which serve predominantly families and children. And the donatiom could not come at a better time – nearly one in three children (around 300,000) in Yorkshire alone are currently growing up in poverty. With schools breaking up for summer in July, the safety net of free school meals – which many of these children would be eligible for – is removed, placing increased financial pressure on low income families.

The substantial contribution by Pure Bite follows continued success for the Brighouse based business. This month Pure Bite goes on sale in 200+ McColls stores, as well as central distribution listing in NISA and Costcutter stores across the UK with further announcements expected in major supermarkets over the Summer 2019.

Gareth Batty, chief executive said: “Our partnership redistributing food with support from food partners like Pure Bite is a shining example of what can be achieved when everyone is focused on creating the greatest social impact they can. We’re looking forward to introducing Pure Bite to our charity members, especially over summer when schools break up and demand for our service rises. Often our charity members tell us that for people in poverty, access to nutritious food is scarce, so FareShare is grateful to be able to offer these projects a healthy option.”

Founder, Jason Bull, said; “We are so impressed with the work that Fareshare do that we felt that we wanted to make a contribution. In addition to all the food staples that they already make excellent provision for, families are now going to have a treat, albeit a very healthy and tasty one so we hope that it puts a smile on people’s faces. We’ve made a significant donation to celebrate the launch of Pure Bite in convenience stores and supermarkets during Summer 2019 and to ensure that those that rely on charities such as Fareshare still have access to healthy and enriching snacks such as PureBite.”
