Exemplar Health Care, a leading provider of specialist nursing care for adults living with complex needs, has announced it will be investing £5M to open its first care home in Pontefract, in winter 2021.
Bennett Court will be Exemplar Health Care’s first home in Pontefract but will be its sixth specialist care home for the West Yorkshire region. The home will support 30 adults who need specialist nursing care and are living with a complex neuro or physical disability.
The home will be equipped to meet the needs of its new residents, and will include an activity hub, visitor suite, sensory room and a therapy room. Every bedroom will come with an en-suite wet room, and the building will feature high quality, spacious communal spaces, and landscaped gardens, for residents and visitors to enjoy.
In addition to providing a supportive community-based service for residents living at Bennett Court, around 100 jobs are expected to be created, ahead of the official opening in October.

“It is extremely rewarding to be able to support 30 local people with complex health needs, and to provide around 100 stable and local jobs. As well as providing employment opportunities, there are plans in place to help Bennett Court become part of the local community. It’s our ambition for Bennett Court to be a place where we host community events, and where our residents can be part of the community, whether through work placements, local events or volunteering.”
The care home will be based on Ash Grove, South Elsmall in Pontefract.
