Business intelligence and data analytics software developer Panintelligence has announced a new partnership with Harrogate-based energy supplier CNG. The deal will see the fast-growing business provide its Pi data analytics software to CNG, enabling the leading independent supplier and shipper of natural gas to optimise its buying to deliver better value for customers.
The deal comes as CNG, which supplies more than 50,000 businesses with gas and ships to 2.5 million customers, has expanded its Harrogate headquarters and appointed new CEO Paul Stanley, who joined the 175-strong firm in February.
CNG is strengthening its focus on data analytics, enabling the business to bolster decision making on gas purchasing and risk management strategies, as well as improving service to its base of largely SME customers.
Panintelligence’s Pi software will be central to CNG’s evolved approach: the Leeds-based firm’s platform enables businesses across a broad spectrum of sectors to generate bespoke reports and visualise trends in real time, optimising the way data is used and providing strategic insights.
Chris Henderson, who heads the newly formed data analytics team at CNG, said: “Working with Panintelligence, a fantastic Yorkshire company, is a game changer for us. We were previously using laborious methods of compiling reports, which were time consuming and difficult to generate, so that we weren’t able to really exploit and use our own data in a strategic way.
“Now with the new Pi platform, although we are just at the start of our data analytics journey, the dashboards provide us with a real-time, clear view of all types of data, with the integrity and security of role-based access inbuilt.”
He added: “In times of accelerated volatility in the oil and gas markets it is incredibly reassuring to have a raft of tools which will inform us on purchasing strategies that make best sense for our clients.”
Panintelligence CEO Zandra Moore said: “We are really excited to be working with CNG and looking forward to sharing their journey to fully realising the power of data analytics for their business.
“Pi software was originally developed for the UK credit industry, to enable the processing of large volumes of transactional data, and it has evolved into a suite of solutions that are relevant across almost every business sector, helping companies like CNG to make the very best use of their own data.”
Panintelligence was co-founded by Zandra Moore and CTO Ken Miller in 2014. The firm announced expansion to the US in summer 2019 and in November 2019 it secured £5m backing from YFM Equity Partners and Comhar Capital in a Series A fundraising. As the business scales rapidly it has invested in key board appointments and an expanded development team, including ex-PayPal Europe and Barclaycard director Howard Bell.
The Pi software currently has over 200,000 users worldwide across a wide range of industry sectors, from retail and education to local government and healthcare.
