Knaresborough-based hygiene and pest control product manufacturer Pelsis Group has launched a new device to help stop the spread of Covid-19.

The business has created a new electrostatic hand-held fogger, called the Hurricane ES, which can be used to disperse disinfectant across potentially contaminated surfaces quickly and easily.

It uses electrostatic technology to charge tiny droplets of disinfectant solution to create an ultra-low volume fog. The electrostatically charged micro particles repel each other as they are dispersed into the atmosphere at high speeds, delivering consistent coverage and stronger contact with all surfaces for optimum cleaning.

Initially made in Jackson USA by the group’s American-based business Curtis Dyna-fog, Pelsis Group now plans to localise production of the fogger at its UK facility in Knaresborough to fulfill domestic and European demand.

Pelsis Group chief executive, Andrew Milner, said, “We’re excited to bring the Hurricane ES to the UK and European markets as we shift our production capabilities for the product to our base in Knaresborough.

“The electrostatic functionality of the Hurricane ES makes it perfect for decontaminating high touch at risk areas. Our technical teams have worked hard to get all the necessary CE approvals for sale across Europe and the result is a highly-effective product which we believe makes a real difference for businesses and organisations implementing enhanced cleaning and hygiene regimes in the fight against Covid-19.”

Fogging is now a commonly used method of fighting Covid-19 as part of a thorough cleaning and sanitisation process. Carried out correctly, it is one of the most effective ways to deep clean and rid an area of viruses and germs.
