New Children’s Air Ambulance superstore is now open

The Children’s Air Ambulance (TCAA) opened its doors today to its flagship superstore, The Hanger, and Landing Pad café in the heart of Doncaster.

The grand opening was attended by South Yorkshire celebrity and TCAA ambassador Paul Elliott as well as Deputy Civic Mayor Cllr Paul Wray. Visitors and guests had the opportunity to have a look around the superstore and shop the extensive variety of new and pre-loved homeware, furniture, electricals and clothing.

The Landing Pad Café was also opened where visitors took a break from browsing and securing bargains while their children played in the new play area equipped with games, toys and superhero outfits.

Officially opening the superstore on behalf of TCAA, Ambassador Paul Elliott said: “It’s great to be here, I am a huge supporter of charities and with a Children’s Air Ambulance helicopter being based at Doncaster and now the charity superstore also in the local community, of course I’d want to support this vital service.

“The superstore looks fantastic, I urge people to come down, have a look round and purchase some great items while supporting the Children’s Air Ambulance.”

The charity, which works alongside 10 NHS teams to provide high speed, specialist clinical transfers for critically babies and children, helps families across the UK by flying young patients on one of two helicopters based at Doncaster Sheffield and London Oxford.

Children’s Air Ambulance CEO, Andy Williamson added: “Our charity currently operates 21 shops but this day marks the momentous occasion of the charity’s first-ever superstore. We are breaking new boundaries within the sector with the size, layout and features of this incredible superstore.

“Last year we opened the lifesaving service’s airbase at Doncaster Airport and the response from the community has been fantastic. Now we have an army of more than 30 volunteers working across the store raising vital funds to keep our helicopters flying and hope alive for babies and children in need.”

This is a unique and exciting launch in the heart of Doncaster. The superstore will raise vital funds for the service and together with help from the local community, will help to save many children’s lives.
