As we finalise the last TopicUK edition of 2019 for print, we welcome to our team, two new contributors, TV presenter and Actor Natalie Anderson who will write for our women’s section about all things relating to health and beauty, working with her own business The Capsule. And we also welcome Laura Bartlett founding editor of House of Coco magazine who will cover world travel, particularly for business ladies travelling alone.
I was lucky enough to catch up with Kay Mellor, writer of the iconic 90s TV series A Band of Gold, ahead of the premier of A Band of Gold the play, opening at Leeds Grand Theatre next month. We also spoke with ex Emmerdale actress Gaynor Faye who stars in the production and can confirm that for those lucky enough to have, or have yet to purchase tickets, will be in for a real treat. TopicUK will certainly be there on opening night. You can read all about Kay, Gaynor and of course the new play in our forthcoming edition.
I think the highlight of the month for me was the Children of Courage awards that took place last week at Dock Hall. For the third year, TopicUK have been a media partner and the event just get’s better and better. Plans are already underway for next year’s event which promises to be even bigger as the awards celebrate 10 fabulous years. The full roundup of winners are published in our next edition.
For anyone who has yet to visit the beautiful Dakota Hotel in central Leeds, make sure it’s on your radar very soon. They have launched their fabulous new Christmas menu and following my visit last night as a guest at their Ferrari Wine Evening, I can guarantee that they have some fabulous wines and champagnes to choose from as well as a selection of delicious cocktails.
I would like to welcome our new TopicUK partners, Fantastic Media, Contedia, BeVic PR and Core, you will be reading a lot more about these businesses over the coming months.
We will wave a sad farewell to Pontefract Hospice, who celebrated their 30th anniversary this year, as our media support for them over the last 12 months concludes, with their Gala Dinner at Oulton Hall next month. We do hope that their business buddies will continue to support them. We do however, welcome our new charity of the year, Wakefield Hospice who are celebrating their 30th anniversary in 2020.
If your business would like to fulfil your corporate social responsibility but don’t have the staff resource to fundraise or indeed much spare finance, why not consider sponsoring some promotional space for your favourite charity in TopicUK? It’s effective, affordable and offers promotion not just for your chosen charity but for the business too. Email me for more details: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Finally a huge congratulations to our partners KC Communications and their founder Katrina Cliffe, who launched the first Huddersfield Business Week and what a week it was. TopicUK visited as many of the events as possible over the week and we are already looking forward to next year. Well done to Katrina and her team.
I want to offer best wishes too to Lydia Butterworth from partners Kirklees College. Lydia is expecting her first child and is this week heading off on maternity leave. Hurry back Lydia, you will be missed, but enjoy your new baby.
