Much Loved Sewing Machinist Retires

Employees of the Double TWO & Sugdens companies based at Thornes Lane Wharf in Wakefield, gathered to wish Elaine Murrell many happy years of retirement.

Elaine joined Double TWO in August 1997 as a part time sewing machinist, and retires just short of clocking up 22 years of service.

After leaving school, Elaine trained as a sewing machinist at Harrisons & Gloucester in Normanton, where she worked on stitching jacket sleeves. Leaving to get married, she moved to Horbury where she found employment as a sewing machinist for a company that made soft toys.

After they closed down, Elaine worked in the mail room and as a cleaner for Redicut and then Weststock Steel Works before she found her way to Double TWO.

Over her 22 years of service she has stitched and sewn many garments for both Double TWO and its Sugdens Corporate wear division.

Elaine now looks forward to a retirement in the company of her husband, enjoying a quieter life in her local club with the odd flutter on the bandits. Elaine has been known to win the jackpot on a number of occasions.
