Mechanics’ Performing Arts bring the West End to Wakefield

Mechanics’ Performing Arts brought the West End to Wakefield last week with Theatre stars Emma Hatton and Norman Bowman giving students industry masterclasses. Both took time out of their busy schedules to give learners masterclasses in careers as musical theatre artists, giving out invaluable advice and tips for making it in the industry.

Both then took to the stage to perform some of their most memorable songs from shows they’ve performed in, alongside a variety of ex-students currently working in the industry such as Lottie Henshall, who starred in the West End show ‘Our House’ in addition to touring with the international cast of ‘Mamma Mia’.

Emma who has played lead roles in Evita, We Will Rock You and Wicked said: “I thoroughly enjoyed working with Wakefield College students and performing alongside everyone in the evening”.

Norman, who has starred in lead roles in Les Miserables, West Side Story and numerous Shakespeare productions alongside Kenneth Brannagh & Jude Law, spoke highly of the College’s students, noting “They are really such amazing, lovely students and a pleasure to mentor.”

Both the masterclasses and the evening shows proved to be a huge success.
