Local plant services company, RJC Plant Services Ltd have donated £500 worth of self-care products to support families in need following a call out for non-food related items by Selby and District Foodbank.
The Church Fenton based business, which has developed a strong reputation for supporting charities and the local community, purchased a range of self-care and cleaning products, including washing up tablets, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and deodorant.
Zena Jackson from RJC Plant Services said: “We know how hard it is for people with the cost-of-living sky high and energy price rises meaning many are having to make difficult choices on what they can afford to buy. Foodbanks have become an essential resource and not just for food items as we discovered when we spoke to the Selby team. We wanted to do something to help the local community and really pleased we could support them in this way.”
Cheryl Whitton, Project Coordinator at Selby and District Foodbank adds:
“It’s important for us to focus on the whole person when they come to see us. October is Mental Health Awareness month and an important reminder how important it is to look after our overall wellbeing. Providing people with food is key but non-food items such as shampoo, shower gel, cleaning products, allow people to keep themselves and their homes clean and afford people a level of self-respect. This donation will no doubt help many people during these difficult times.”
RJC Plant Services were recently awarded a One Big Thank You on BBC’s The One Show for their good deeds and random acts of kindness and were also a finalist in the BBC York Make A Difference Awards in the Great Neighbour Category.
