Leeds Community Foundation has appointed its first chief operating officer as the organisation continues its philanthropic work to make both Leeds and Bradford fairer places to live.
Alex Ellis-White joined Leeds Community Foundation in May, bringing more than 25 years of experience in strategic communications and engagement, project management and business transformation roles in the public, private and third sectors. Having previously held the position of communications business partner at NHS Digital for ten years, Alex is passionate about innovation and the use of technology to improve lives.
Alex is also founder and chief executive of volunteer-run charity Better Giving Partnership, which runs the Givto charity fundraising service he devised. He previously volunteered as director within the commercial arm of Voluntary Action Leeds, supporting third sector organisations across the city.
Leeds Community Foundation is an independent grant maker, collaborator, and leader. They bring together organisations and individuals to invest in communities, building a fairer Leeds for everyone. They understand the local landscape. By uniting fresh ideas, diverse perspectives, funding and resources, they are building a city-wide movement towards a shared vision of a fairer Leeds.
Alex said: "I'm thrilled to be joining the team at Leeds Community Foundation and being able to contribute to making Leeds and Bradford fairer and more equitable cities for all. Together, we can make a big difference to the hundreds of small charities and community organisations, and the communities and individuals they support."
Steph Taylor, CEO at Leeds Community Foundation, added: “Alex is a fantastic addition to our team and is already making such a positive impact as we embark on our new strategy. Alex and our brilliant team will help us to respond to the huge demand for grants in communities right across Leeds and Bradford; while also working closely with businesses and individuals who can make a difference to their local communities by giving through Leeds Community Foundation.”
