Councillor James Lewis, Leader of Leeds City Council, was joined by Fiona Bolam, chief officer, Economy and Skills at Leeds City Council for a tour of the new Leeds Trinity University City Campus ahead of its official opening.

Leeds Trinity University’s vice-chancellor professor Charles Egbu welcomed Cllr Lewis and Fiona Bolam to 1 Trevelyan Square, where the University’s City Campus is located. They were joined by Professor Catherine O’Connor, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Education and Experience, and Jo Hynes, Chief Operating Officer at Leeds Trinity University, on the tour of the campus, where teaching will start in the coming weeks.

Cllr James Lewis said: “The new Leeds Trinity University City Campus is a fantastic investment in the city, championing growth, inclusivity and opportunities. This new University presence in the heart of Leeds will be great for students and for our city. The state-of-the-art facilities and industry-leading courses will provide a great platform for innovation, highly skilled employment and collaboration. I look forward to seeing the new campus in operation.”

The visit will be followed by a series of civic engagement events on Tuesday 1 October which will underpin the University’s new city centre presence. Leeds Trinity’s city base will complement its existing campus in Horsforth and enable the University to create new opportunities for its students, contribute to the continued growth of Leeds city centre and support demand for skills.

As a career-led University, Leeds Trinity promotes the value of working in close partnership with businesses and is committed to developing mutually beneficial collaborations. A range of courses will be delivered at the Leeds City Campus, across the Business School, School of Computer Science, School of Construction and the Built Environment, School of Criminology, Investigation and Policing, and the Law School.

The Leeds City Campus is designed to meet BREEAM Excellent as a minimum in design and operation. This sustainability assessment methodology is internationally recognised as a robust and holistic sustainability standard for buildings.
